Merry Christmas!
Well, I had a small miracle occur. As some of you may know, we had a horrible blizzard here in Denver last week. Horrible in the sense that many people were trying to get home for Christmas. My flight originally scheduled for last Thursday was cancelled as well. I tried to get ahold of the airlines but so were quite a few other people so I was never able to actually connect--that is until Saturday evening.
Anyhow, I spoke to the airline rep after reading the airline website (which stated clearly that it would be next to impossible to get anyone home before Christmas). I was planning to just cancel the ticket and go for the full refund promised by the website. Just for the heck of it, I asked her when would be the earliest date I could reschedule my flight to Arizona. I heard some typing on the other end and she came back, "How about tomorrow at 8:30 am?"
My jaw nearly dropped since that would get me home one day before Christmas--something I had nearly given up on. So, to make a long story short, I was able to get home for Christmas for about three days time and had an awesome time! The folks are well and I got to see two of my three sisters (Yippee!)
As an additional small miracle, I just returned home today to Denver today one day before the next set of blizzards is due to hit. Fortunate timing (?)
You know, I just rewatched Al Gore's movie An Inconvenient Truth with my parents today before returning to Denver from Tucson, AZ. It strikes me that maybe these crazy winter storms are also the result of man-made climate change...
Ahh, yes, comics. I've added a new WildRice Story. It's actually one I did a while back (say around 2002). However, since it has not seen the light of day and I might continue that story at some point, I wanted to get it up here.
Cheers and Happy New Year! Ho Ho Ho! (Is that OK for New Years as well?)
